In this section, we will show you how to create a scene in your visual novel.
But first, let’s see what is a scene?
In CloudNovel engine, scene is a collection of assets and pages that are simultaneously loaded and presented to your player. In sense of visual novel’s pacing, scenes are something like chapters.
Since there will be loading time between the scenes, it’s best if you organize your story and assets in such way that bigger chunk of the story is represented inside a scene.
Don’t worry about branching, it is also possible within the scene with individual pages.
If you have created a new project, it should automatically redirect you to this screen. If you already created your project and need to open it, go to DASHBOARD.
Then hover your mouse over the project and click on OPEN PROJECT.
It will take you to the SCENES screen as seen above.
Once you have opened your project click on ADD SCENE button in the top right corner.
A form will appear to create a new scene. Fill out the form with the following information:
This is the title of the scene. It’s not visible to your players, so whatever you type here is for your eyes only.
This field is optional. However, we recommend that you type in here brief outline of the chapter, or use it as ‘to do’ list.
If you need to make exact copy of already made scene, here you can select which scene to duplicate. Obviously, you can’t pick this option now, because there are no scenes to copy – yet!
Once you have filled in the information, click CREATE
Voila! Your first scene is ready. Continue onto the next section to learn how to add characters.
